In recent years I have visited and ministered among the Lakota people of South Dakota. The Lakota challenge and inspire me and my art. I have become an advocate for Native Americans because of the time I have spent with my Lakota brothers and sisters. I desire to use my voice and talents to speak up and speak for these people.
I have recently completed a children’s book entitled, “Keep Hope Alive.” It is a story inspired by a Native American story. It is a tale of courage and self-sacrifice and above all – hope. I wrote and illustrated the book to encourage children and adults to always keep hope alive in your heart.
I also wrote the book to bring awareness to depression and hopelessness I find in so many places. A portion of each book sold will be donated to organizations that help prevent teenage suicide on the reservations.
